FIFAs early warning system is monitoring sports betting

Early Warning System GmbH (EWS) is monitoring sports betting on all FIFA tournaments and competitions to prevent sports betting having any negative impact on these matches. At the same time, EWS wants to raise awareness on opportunities and risks of sports betting for the football.

EWS was founded by Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) as part of its tasks to safeguard the integrity of sport. On 1 July 2007 FIFA launched EWS with its own staff and offices in Zurich specifically for this purpose.

Starting with monitoring all matches of the 2014 FIFA World Cup BrazilTM and the preliminaries, EWS is monitoring the FIFA Confederations Cup Brazil 2013, FIFA U-20 World Cup Turkey 2013, FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Tahiti 2013, FIFA U-17 World Cup UAE 2013 and the  FIFA Club World Cup Morocco 2013. Furthermore EWS is also monitoring competitions of the Japan Football Association.

As an ethical project, EWS forms an integral component of FIFA’s measures and supports FIFA first and foremost in the areas of prevention, repression and investigation. As a representative of an international sporting organisation, EWS operates independently of the commercial betting industry and is not profit-orientated.
